Public Places and Spaces Progress Report

By 2005, establish Community Boards to involve local communities in the delivery of the Liveability Project	Havant Borough Council	Six Community Boards set up as part of the Liveability Project and fully integrated into Havant Community Partnership in 2006 with wider role as consultation mechanism for partners.
Establish a design framework for public spaces in the borough by June 2007	Havant Borough Council	Public Realm Design Framework approved June 2005.
Improve signage/set standards for street furniture by 2006	Havant Borough Council	Standards now conform to Public Realm Design Framework and any future street furniture replacements will be implemented to that standard. Signage Strategy partly implemented through Liveability Project.
Adopt an Open Spaces Strategy to govern provision/maintenance of public spaces by June 2005	Havant Borough Council	Open Spaces Strategy completed in 2005 as part of Liveability Project and improvements carried out eg play areas.
Reorganise work teams to provide more effective maintenance services by June 2005	Havant Borough Council	Completed in 2005.

Invest in improving appearance of gateways and key public spaces by 2007, subject to support by Community Boards	Havant Borough Council	Work carried out on planting of roundabouts at gateways, sponsored where suitable. Naturalised bulb planting also introduced where fitting.
